Scarce, W.W.II. period, solid silver and enamel sweetheart brooch in the form of the Observer Corps' badge design. These brooches were known as "sweethearts" as they were purchased by servicemen to give to their loved ones.
This nice quality bar brooch is made from solid silver and is decorated in attractive blue enamel. The back is stamped "silver". Length : 52mm. Very good condition. Comes with a period jeweller's box.
The Observer Corps was formed in 1925 and it's purpose was to identify and report the location of aircraft approaching and flying within British air space.
