Original W.W.I. Period British Royal Flying Corps Cap Badge

Original brass Royal Flying Corps cap badge dating from between 1912 and 1918.

Made from pressed brass, the badge bears the initials "RFC" in it's centre and is surrounded by laurel leaves and the king's crown. Two lugs which allow the badge to be fixed to the cap are mounted on it's reverse. Width : 37mm. Nice condition.

The Royal Flying Corps was formed on 13th May 1912 and served through the majority of the First World War. On 1st April 1918, the RFC and the RNAS (Royal Navy Air Service) were separated from the army and the navy and merged to form a new service, the Royal Air Force.
