W.W.II Period RAF Air Crew Whistle

Genuine W.W.II. period Royal Air Force air crew emergency whistle. Believed to have been manufactured by J. Hudson & Co, Birmingham.

This nickel plated brass whistle was worn suspended from the collar of the battledress blouse and it's purpose was to attract attention if the airman ditched in the sea. One side is stamped with the initials "A.M." (Air Ministry), the King's crown and the code, "23/230", the other side is stamped, "293/14/L1795". Length (not including suspension ring) : 51mm. Nice condition (only very slight wear to plating).
