W.W.II. Curtiss-Wright Production Award Souvenir Medal. 1942
Large, heavy medal presented to employees of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation in recognition of their participation in earning a prestigious war-time production award. Dated August 20, 1942.
This attractive medal appears to be made from copper with a bronze patina. The front bears the image of the Army & Navy "E" award pennant with a P-40 Warhawk and a C-46 Commando above and below. Around the rim is the caption, "CURTISS-WRIGHT CORPORATION - AIRPLANE DIVISION BUFFALO N.Y. - PLANTS ONE AND TWO", and the date "August 20, 1942". The reverse is marked, "PRESENTED IN APPRECIATION OF YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE EARNING OF THIS PRODUCTION AWARD - CURTISS-WRIGHT CORP. AIRPLANE DIVISION BUFFALO N.Y." and has the Curtiss-Wright insignia. Diameter : 76mm. Good condition (a couple of knocks to edge).
