Rare, genuine, W.W.I. period, Mk. VB altimeter as was fitted to aircraft of the Royal Flying Corps. Manufactured by the renowned English instrument makers, "Short & Mason".

This high quality instrument is in totally original condition and is still fitted with it's original bevelled glass. The dial has a rotating outer chapter ring which is marked in thousands of feet. This ring can be adjusted (allowing the instrument to be calibrated) by turning the knob on the bottom of the casing. The centre of the dial is marked, "Height - Mark VB - No. 28.590A - Non-Luminous - Short & Mason Ltd.". The back bears the following British military markings : War Department arrow above the letter "A" (Royal Flying Corps Aviation mark). Overall diameter : 116mm. Nice condition.
