Unusual Sterling Silver RAF "Sweetheart" Brooch. 1930s

Good quality, sterling silver sweetheart brooch with an unusual design in the form of a Royal Air Force officer's cap badge. Dating from the 1930s. Brooches such as these were known as "sweethearts" as they were purchased by airmen to give to their loved ones. 

Nicely modelled brooch decorated with blue and red enamel. The back is stamped with the makers initials "F.P.". It is also stamped, "sterling". Width : 29mm. Very good condition.

Comes with a period jeweller's box.
