W.W.I. Period "Willow Art" Crested China Aeroplane. c.1914

Scarce "crested" china model of an early monoplane dating from around 1914.

This model is based on a Bleriot monoplane which as well as being a popular aircraft with sporting pilots between 1909 & 1914, was also used by the allies during the early stages of W.W.I. The underside of this model bears the maker's mark of "Willow Art China, Longton, Staffordshire". It has a glazed white body with gilt detail and still has it's original china propeller. In the centre of it's wings is a hand painted coat of arms of the village of Cobham (Kent, England). Overall length : 145mm.  Excellent condition.
