Early RAF Mess Marmalade Jar. c.1930 (Maker's Mark)

Pottery marmalade jar specially made for use in a Royal Air Force mess. Dating from around 1930.

Cream coloured marmalade jar with lid and textured body, decorated with gilt bands. A pottery shield is applied to front which bears a hand coloured badge of the RAF. The following maker's mark is printed on to the base, "St. Martin's Varsity Bitter Marmalade - Makers of the World's Finest Marmalade". Nice condition (slight wear to gilding). Diameter : 134mm.
