Silver French Paratrooper Medal. 1940s

Nice quality, French, solid silver paratrooper medal designed by the sculptor C. Charl. Most likely dating from the late 1940's.

The front of this beautiful, small medal bears the image of a French paratrooper descending through the sky with clouds and other canopies in the background. The reverse shows a battle between two mythological winged warriors. The medal is signed by the sculptor as well as being stamped with both French silver hallmarks and the word, "France". Diameter (not including bale ring or attachment) : 25.5mm. Good condition (some light wear and tarnishing).
