9ct Gold & Enamel B.O.A.C. Stick Pin

Nice quality, solid 9ct gold & enamel stick pin made for BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation). Dating from 1970.
This small stick pin is made from solid 9ct gold in the form of the company's crest with central the "Speedbird" logo decorated in in blue enamel. The reverse is stamped with a full English 9ct gold hallmark corresponding to the year 1970, and with the maker's mark "MP". Overall length : 33mm. Excellent condition. Comes with original box with "Speedbird" logo on lid.
Britian's national airline, "British Overseas Airways Corporation" was formed in the 1939 when Imperial Airways and (the earlier) British Airways Limited merged. B.O.A.C. continued in service until 1972 when it merged with British European Airways (B.E.A.) forming British Airways.
