"Fairey Aviation" Motor Car Badge. 1930s

Original chrome plated motor car radiator grille badge made for  employees of the Fairey Aviation Company. Most likey dating from the 1930s.

Made in the form of the company's logo, this badge is made from chrome plated brass and is attached by the means of two steel bolts. Overall length : 75mm. Good condition.

The Fairey Aviation Company was formed in 1915 by Mr C. R. Fairey, and was based in Hayes, Middlesex, England. He was one of the earliest British aircraft designers, and along with the Short Bros., played a very important part in the practical development of the seaplane. Some famous Fairey aircraft include the IIIb, the Battle and the Swordfish, which played an important part in the sinking of the Bismark in 1941. Fairey are still in existence (under the name Spectris) and are now electrical engineering specialists.
