"Martin Aircraft" Commemorative Plate. c.1942

Original W.W.II. period plate commemorating the Martin Aircraft Company. This plate was made exclusively for the Hecht Brothers department store, Baltimore by Vernon Kilns around 1942.
This attractive plate has a cream coloured glaze and is decorated with a brown transfer design bearing the images of the various aircraft manufactured at the time by the Martin Aircraft Co. of Baltimore, Maryland. The aircraft illustrated are : Model 167 "Maryland"; B-26 "Marauder"; Model 187 "Baltimore"; PBM-1 "U.S. Navy patrol Bomber"; and the "China Clipper" flying boat. The reverse is printed with the maker's marks along with a write up on the company and the aircraft illustrated. Diameter : 265mm. Very good condition.
