Rare "Handley Page Transport" Passenger Book. c.1920

Rare, "Handley Page Transport Ltd." book entitled "By Air to Paris" which was given to passengers who flew the London-Paris route with this early airline. Dating from around 1920.
This book was written by Major Charles. C. Turner (the pre-war record breaking balloonist) and contains 46 pages bound by red silk chord. It has a card cover with gilt decoration and a central photographic image of a Handley Page airliner. The book describes in detail what the passenger experiences from their arrival at Cricklewood Aerodrome, London (Handley Page's personal air field) to their destination at Le Bourget in Paris, France. It includes descriptions and aerial images of many of the landmarks that can be seen along the route, a fold-out map which shows the company's air routes and many period advertisements. Dimensions : 56mm x 190mm. Very good condition (one small tear at top of one page). A very scarce piece of early British airline ephemera.
Handley Page Transport Ltd. was one of Britain's first airlines. It started service on 1st May 1919 and operated airliners which carried ten passengers. These aircraft were converted from the large Handley Page 0/400 bombers which the company produced during W.W.I. During it's relatively short life, the company operated services to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. On 1st April 1924, along with Instone Air Line Ltd., Daimler Airways and British Marine Air Navigation Company Ltd., Handley Page Transport was taken over to form the famous Imperial Airways.
