Scarce "Bitterfeld" Balloon Association Lapel Badge. 1930s

Scarce, high quality, gilt brass and enamel lapel badge (pin) made for the Bitterfeld ballooning association. Dating from the 1930s.
This very attractive badge bears the image of a hydrogen balloon above the caption "Bitterfelder V.F. Luftfahrht" (Bitterfelder Verband Für Luftfahrht - Bitterfeld Association for Aviation). The reverse is attached to it's original brooch pin and is marked with the maker's name "L. Chr. Lauer - Nürnberg-Berlin". Diameter : 26mm. Nice condition.
Bitterfeld is well known for being Germany's centre for hydrogen ballooning. Over the years it has been the host for many important events such the Gordon Bennett Air Race. The Bitterfelder Verband Für Luftfahrht was formed in 1909 and is still in existence today.
