Royal Air Force Cadet College Medal. 1920s 

High quality, silver plated, uninscribed medal made for the Royal Air Force's famous cadet college, "Cranwell". Dating from the 1920s.

The front of this medal bears the badge of the college with it's motto, "Superna Petimus" (We seek higher things). Surrounding this is the wording, "Royal Air Force Cadet College". The reverse is decorated with a laurel wreath and is signed with the maker's name, "Phillips - Aldershot". Diameter of medal : 44.5mm. Comes with original fitted case. Nice condition (slight tarnishing).

Cranwell was first used during W.W.I. as the Royal Naval Air Service's "Central Training Establishment". With the amalgamation of the RNAS and the Royal Flying Corps in 1918, Cranwell was inherited by the Royal Air Force. On the 5th February 1920 the Royal Air Force College was opened on the site. Cranwell was the world's first military air academy.
