Quality W.W.II. Period RAF "198" Squadron Lapel Badge

Nice quality, gilt brass and enamel Royal Air Force No.198 Squadron lapel badge dating from W.W.II.

This badge is a miniature representation of the RAF "193" Squadron's crest. It is made with a stud fastening which has a screw down clamp. Length : 33mm. Nice condition.

RAF 198 Squadron

Crest bears the image of a phoenix with a sword in it's beak. Motto translation : "We are reborn by fire".

This squadron was originally allocated for the period April to September 1939 and was reformed on the 7th December 1942 at Digby, Lincolnshire. Throughout W.W.II. it flew Hawker Hurricanes and Hawker Typhoons. It was disbanded in on the 15th September 1945 at Wunsdorf, Germany.
