Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Pilot's Chronograph Wrist Watch. c.1945

Stainless steel Lemania pilot's chronograph wrist watch specially produced for the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. This model was the first pattern of chronograph Lemania designed for military use and dates from around 1945.
Heavy stainless steel case with screw-on back. Fixed strap bars. Chronograph button mounted on side of case at 2 o'clock position (starts, stops and resets chronograph function). Back of case engraved with the British War Department arrow, the Royal Navy mark "H.S.9" ("Hydrographic Service 9" - Royal Navy's code for chronograph wrist watch - used between 1939 & 1946) and serial number "5050". Case width (not including crown or chrono. button) : 38.5mm. Case condition : 90%.
Original matt silver coloured dial with black numerals. Chronograph minute register (30 mins.) and subsidiary seconds register. Outer chronograph seconds chapter divided into 1/5th seconds. Luminous hands and hour markers (luminous paint faded with age). Dial condition : 85% (slight discolouration).
Good quality, gilt, 17 jewel chronograph movement. Unsigned, but positively identified as Lemania calibre 15CHT. Movement condition (appearance) : 95%. Good working order. Time keeping : good.
